Snacks for the children are provided by the parent volunteer for that day. We feel that eating together helps to foster a sense of community. With that in mind, please review the following information to ensure a good experience for all the children.
As a NAEYC accredited program we must stress the importance of HEALTHY food choices. Please no cupcakes, brownies, cookies or cakes. These generally contain "empty" calories and do not provide children with the energy and nutrients they need to participate in a morning at school! To help you plan snack try to think of providing foods from two or more food groups (protein/dairy, fruits and vegetables, grains and cereals). Please also bring juice (diluted 50/50 with water), water or another healthy drink to accompany your snack. The school supplies cups, plates, napkins and spoons; you will have to supply any other items you may need in order to serve your snack.
The preceding ideas are meant as a suggestion - if you have other ideas please share them with the teachers or teacher’s helper.
